SAY Detroit is aimed at improving the lives of the neediest citizens, through shelter, food, care, volunteer efforts and education. It was formed in February, 2006, after Mitch Albom went public with a plea to do as much for the homeless all winter as the city was doing over a Super Bowl weekend.

Score 7 Foundation

Matthew Stafford’s Score 7 foundation supported the construction of the football field at the SAY Detroit Play Center. SAY Play Warriors, as well as other community teams, use the field for games and practices.

Notes for Notes

Notes for Notes designs, equips, and staffs after-school recording studios inside Boys & Girls Clubs offering youth the opportunity to explore, create, and record music. Beyond providing access to equipment and resources, Notes for Notes educates youth about careers both on the stage and behind the scenes.

Tom Gores and the Detroit Pistons made a 6 years funding pledge for refurbishing the basketball court, scoreboard and gym floor, but most importantly they will help fund the academics that is the foundation of SAY Play Detroit.

Dow Chemical and Cooper Standard opened a new science station in the DEEP. Dow will staff the center with trained, employee volunteers through their Dow STEM Ambassadors program, which will offer tutoring, science demonstrations and career information.

In October 2016, the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation awarded S.A.Y. Detroit a 10-year, multi-million dollar grant with major support going to the S.A.Y. Play Center. The Michigan Masons and its foundation are dedicated to making communities a better place to live and have pledged to work alongside S.A.Y. Detroit and the S.A.Y. Play Center on various projects and programs each year.

Building Better Men (B2M)

A mentoring/leadership program for males ages 8-18. The B2M program was started in 1991 by Odis Bellinger and was founded on the principle that young men can be successful despite challenges associated with absent/uninvolved fathers. Its goal is to enable young men to become productive members of society.
