Remote Learning

While our facility remains closed to ensure the safety of our student members, we remain committed to bringing our social and emotional learning curriculum into the homes of our members every day. Essential to carrying out our mission and vision for the SAY Detroit Play Center is maintaining a dedicated, one-on-one check-ins with our members and their families.

Our programming focuses on small group and project-based interactive learning in Arts & Crafts, Athletics, Science, and Health & Nutrition.

We use Google classrooms to run these activities.

In this course, students will learn how to tell stories using art and illustrations. We will discover how colors and shapes help to convey character’s traits and emotions. Students will explore their artistic style to create fun characters and build dynamic storylines using multiple mediums and artistic techniques.

Each student registered in Arts and Craft Stories will receive FREE activity bags and art supplies every 2 weeks!

SAY Detroit Play Center’s Athletics Remote Programming will educate students on how to stay active and engaged during this difficult time.

During weekly online classes, strength and conditioning exercises and basketball skill development drills will be taught and demonstrated. All workouts will be recorded in an online journal as a way to measure individual progress and promote accountability.

We provide educational videos, graphics and links for mental engagement and group discussion. Students will complete reading and writing assignments geared towards team building using Google classroom.

Students will come together in a fun learning environment to gain knowledge of ways to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Students will learn easy, healthy recipes and habits that can create a healthy life.

This class is a curiosity driven approach to physical Science. The goal is to spark creativity in students and get them to ask why things are the way they are in the world around them. Students will gain a better understanding of natural phenomena (clouds, dew, freezing and melting ice, etc.) while doing fun experiments that relate to real world concepts.

If you’re a curious person who wants to mix fun and Science, get ready for the fun and exciting journey into the Magic of Science!
