SAY Detroit and Full Count Foundation (FCF) are working in partnership to provide a high-quality baseball experience to enhance and develop the baseball, personal, physical, and intellectual skills of inner city children. The program is led by SAY Play Baseball Coordinator Kirthmon Dozier Jr., FCF’s founder who is also head varsity baseball coach at University Prep High School.
By partnering with SAY Detroit, FCF has been able to continue its mission of providing inner city kids with the baseball resources they normally wouldn’t have access to. That started this winter with our free baseball clinics given every weekend and including University Prep High School’s varsity baseball/softball teams to SAY Play.
Despite COVID-19’s dramatic changes to our lives, FCF has been influential throughout the City of Detroit baseball community as one of the few baseball programs currently active. We are the only baseball program on the eastside of Detroit thanks to SAY Detroit’s support. Once we were allowed back outside, we entered our 18 and under team in the Detroit PAL League and set up independent games for our 12 and under team where games were hosted at SAY Play.
